1 CHALK ART FESTIVAL | 2 ART IS EDUCATION | 3 BIRDHOUSE GALA
September 18, 2016 @ Beach, 9am – 1pm
For many years, PAINTS has sponsored a Chalk Art Festival at the Beach playground. For the last two years, we have joined forces with the Beach Dad’s Club (and their delicious Pancake Breakfast) as well as with the international Chalk4Peace Festival, where people around the world will repaint the planet with the color of peace! What a great combination! Chalk art squares are $10 and the pancakes start flipping at 9am.
March 2017, at the Ellen Driscoll Auditorium, 325 Highland Ave., Piedmont
March is Art Is Education Month! Proceeds from our Art is Education events support Visual and Performing Arts and Music Education. Art is Education Month! is sponsored by the Alameda County Alliance for Arts Learning Leadership. Proceeds support Visual and Performing Arts and Music Education. This family friendly, free event sponsored by PAINTS honors the month long celebration of art education in our schools occurring throughout the Alameda County School District.
May , 2017 • Location TBD
The Birdhouse Gala & Auction, PAINTS’ annual signature fundraising event, was conceived eight years ago as an exciting way of linking the annual Piedmont High School Bird Calling Contest (a quirky competition that used to bring local students onto Late Night with David Letterman to perform their winning bird calls) back to our community’s art scene to fund raise for art education. Each year the gala showcases the work of Bay Area artists as well as our own student artists who donate original works that range in style from elegant to whimsical, humorous to political. The pieces (bird houses, paintings, prints, sculptures, etc…) are sold through a lively auction which is held in a lush Piedmont home garden, and is a sell-out event each year with attendance of 200+ people. PAINTS gala has grown in popularity due to its unique character as a fun and original arts event where the art, wine and food are all first rate. To top it all off, the Piedmont High School Bird Calling contestants make a brief appearance to regale us with their calls. There is no more popular party in Piedmont!
